Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea -Simple, Effective Solutions
It has been estimated that as many as 1 in 15 Americans are affected by sleep apnea, and that over 80% of those are undiagnosed or untreated. If you have sleep apnea- or think that you might- what can you do?
Your dentist can actually be a big help. Many people are familiar with the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine, which must be worn while asleep, but can be hard to get used to due to its noisiness. It’s also bulky, so for those that travel frequently it can be problematic. Therefore, more and more dentists are perscribing Oral Appliance Therepy (OAT).
The Oral Appliance is a custom-made mouthpiece which shifts the lower jaw forward, opening up the airway. Using OAT will help you get a better nights sleep. It can also reduce blood pressure and reduce the chances of stroke, heart disease and many other health risks. It is small, comfortable and easy to use, making up for what the CPAP machines lack.
So if you suffer from sleep apnea, or worry that you do, don’t you deserve a pleasant nights rest and better health? I encourage you to contact your local dentist to find the best solution to your sleep apnea.
