Did you know that one person dies every hour of every day in the United States of oral cancer? Traditionally, oral cancer is detected by a visual examination at your dental visits. But it has to be pretty advanced before we can see it that way.
We decided that simply wasn't good enough for our patients.
We went to the SeaHawks first preseason game in Seattle! Very very fun... Did you know that they are not all required to wear protective mouth wear? Many of them have had their helmets knocked off during a game - what happens to their teeth then?
I think about this with my kids and all of the sports that they play.
Many people have moderate teeth damage they would like repaired, but
do not need extensive work done. A simple solution is inlays and
onlays.
An inlay provides coverage over the grooves and between the cusps of
the teeth, while an onlay covers the grooves and cusps. These methods
can be used to fix moderate tooth damage. They are beautiful, durable
and completely indistinguishable from your natural tooth.
Over 80 million Americans are missing out on the benefits of a
restful nights sleep due to sleep apnea. This can lead to high blood
pressure, weight gain, muscle pain and many other problems. If you
suffer from sleep apnea, what can you do?
Many doctors recommend a CPAP machine, which can be effective, but
cumbersome and is hard to get used to. I prefer a custom-made mouth
guard which is much more comfortable and more effective.
Are you sick of your metal fillings? Are you worried they may cause
damage to your teeth? Those are perfectly valid concerns! Metal
filling can expand with heat and contract with cold, cracking your
teeth. Some may even contain mercury, which can pose serious health
concerns. And metal fills can simply look bad, resulting in
embarrassment when you smile.
