Oral Surgery

For most standard tooth removals, you can expect the extraction site to heal in about seven to 10 days. Following your aftercare instructions and limiting your physical exertion for a few days will help you heal faster and more comfortably.

Your tooth extraction won't hurt. Your dental team will make sure the area we're working on is completely numb before they begin. You can also choose to receive sedation to keep you relaxed. Your comfort is a top priority.

Depending on your needs and the complexity of your oral surgical procedure, we offer complimentary laughing gas. For a more complex surgery, you can choose IV sedation or general anesthesia. We'll review your medical history and treatment plan to help determine which option is best for you.

If your teeth are overcrowded, removing one or more teeth may create the space needed for successful orthodontic treatment. Your dentist willl evaluate your bite and discuss whether an extraction is recommended as part of your treatment plan.

After your oral surgery, it's important to follow the instructions your dentist provides for eating, cleaning your mouth, managing discomfort, and limiting certain activities. Following these guidelines helps promote proper healing and reduces the risk of complications.

Replacing a missing tooth after extraction is recommended to restore your bite, maintain proper tooth alignment, and support your long-term oral health. After your extraction, we'll discuss your replacement options, such as a dental implant or another restorative solution, if appropriate.

A tooth extraction isn't always needed. Your dentist evaluates whether a tooth can be preserved before recommending removal. If a tooth is too damaged to repair or is putting your surrounding teeth and gums at risk, we'll explain why an extraction may be the healthiest option and review your replacement options if needed.
